Dynamics GP reviewing User-Defined Fields
Dynamics GP has several User Defined fields built in. I have found that many GP Users either are not aware of these or are not taking advantage of them.
COMPANY:
Under Administration Setup | Company | Company the Extra Fields button gives you access to multiple company level User-Defined Fields.
Under the Internet User Defined you can set up 8 additional User-Defined.
Use the Internet User Defined Setup window to enter labels for the Internet information you want to track for employees, customers, salespeople, vendors and items. Be sure the labels you select are appropriate for companies, as well.
FINANCIAL:
In General Ledger Setup there are 4 User-Defined Field Labels to use when adding GL Accounts.
FIXED ASSETS:
In Fixed Asset Company Setup, click the button for User-Defined to access 15 User Fields.
SALES – Receivables:
In Receivables Management Setup under Options, you can set up User Defined Fields for the Customer Master and the Customer Address windows.
SALES – Sales order Processing:
In Sales Order Processing under User-Defined you can set up fields for Entry windows and for Customer/Item Maintenance.
Purchasing – Payables:
In Payables Management Setup – Options there are 2 user Defined Fields.
Purchasing – Purchase Order Processing Setup – Receiving User-Defined there are 20 different User-Defined fields. Five are defined as List, Ten as Text Fields and 20 as Date Fields.
Purchasing – Purchase Order Processing Setup – Requisitions has 4 User-Defined fields, two of them are at the line level.
Inventory – Inventory Control Setup – the fields are called User Category and there are 6 fields available.
Use the Inventory Control Setup window to create user categories—groups of item characteristics—and then use the Item Category Setup window to define values for each category. For example, you might create a user category called Storage if you have inventoried items that require special storage conditions. Then you could use the Item Category Setup window to create different values—such as Refrigeration or Hazardous—to assign to items that require special handling.
Dynamics GP reviewing User-Defined Fields
Microsoft Dynamics GP has User-Defined fields in several other Series. Make sure to look at the Setup section to see if there are User Defined Fields available that you are not taking advantage of.
