Microsoft Dynamics GP Lifecycle and Upgrade Services

This Blog was updated on 9/4/2018 to include Microsoft Dynamics GP versions up to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018.

Microsoft has posted a Blog regarding the Lifecycle of software versions. I am posting this information for our customers along with the link to the original post (at the bottom).

For those of you that have still not upgraded hopefully this information will explain what happens when the version you are on is no longer supported.

You will see engineers make reference to Mainstream Support and Extended Support.

Here is a chart that outlines the differences between Mainstream Support and Extended Support.

Microsoft Dynamics GP Lifecycle and Upgrade Services: Mainstream Support end dates by Version.

This list will show you if your current version is covered by Mainstream Support or Extended Support and the dates that each phase will end.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0: Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 is already in its’ extended support lifecycle, which will end on 10/10/2017. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010: Mainstream Support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 ended on 10/13/2015 which means that you will no longer receive tax and year end updates.  Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 is now in its’ extended support lifecycle.  This will be ending on 10/13/2020.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013: Mainstream Support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 will end on 4/10/2018 which means that at that point in time, you will no longer receive tax and year end updates.  Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 will then move into Extended Support until 4/11/2023.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015: Mainstream Support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R2 will end on 4/14/2020 which means that at that point in time, you will no longer receive tax and year end updates.  Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 will then move into Extended Support until 4/8/2025.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016: Mainstream Support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 and Microsoft Dynamics GP R2 will end on 7/13/2021 which means at that point in time, you will not longer receive tax table and year end updates. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 will then move into Extended Support until 7/14/2026.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018: Mainstream support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 will end on 1/10/2023 which means at that point in time, you will not longer receive tax and year end updates. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 will then move into Extended Support until 1/11/2028.

Extended support for Microsoft Dynamics GP is included in the customers and partners standard support plans.  Here is a link that provided more information as well on the Microsoft Dynamics GP Product Lifecycle: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?sort=PN&alpha=Dynamics+Gp&Filter=FilterNO    With the information provided above, if you are currently on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 or earlier, you will want to have a plan in place in regards to upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 or Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018. Upgrade services through Advanced Product Support Services are available for upgrades to a supported version of Microsoft Dynamics GP according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy.

For example, upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018. Note: There is not a direct upgrade from GP 2010 to GP 2018, this will require more than one upgrade.

Customers: If you have any questions regarding upgrade services, please reach out to your Partner to get the ball rolling for a service request.
