A look at some features of GP 2015

Here is a look at some features of GP 2015 you can look forward to when this version is released.

Management Reporter Integration Setup

There is a new navigation list for accessing Management Reporter reports from within the Financial and Administration Navigation buttons.

Define the location of the Management Reporter service in the Reporting Tools Setup to enable the navigation list.

The navigation list displays a list of reports the current user has security access to and enables them to view the reports in the Management Reporter Viewer with the click of a button.

Support for MR Content in Business Analyzer

You can now add Management Reporter content to the Microsoft Dynamics Business Analyzer app.

This will allow them to view reports they have permission to in the Management Reporter HTML viewer.

Business Analyzer Cross Platform

This feature enables tablet users on Windows, iOS or Android to install and use the Microsoft Dynamics Business Analyzer app.

Copy Home Page & Area Page

This feature provides the ability to copy the Home Page Role, Home Page Content, or Area Page Settings from one user to another.

Creating Refreshable Excel Reports Using SmartList Designer

This feature will enable users to create refreshable Excel reports using SmartList Designer.  Reports created from SQL views may be published to the Excel report library.

By publishing a refreshable report, the user can open the report in Excel and the data will always be up to date.

Organizational Account User Authentication

Allow users to be authenticated for Microsoft Dynamics GP using organizational account credentials, also known as Azure AD accounts. This will allow users to log into Microsoft Dynamics GP Web Client using the same credentials they use for Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

Workflow approval and task assignments can also be assigned to an organizational account rather than a Windows account once the system is configured for this authentication method.

Service Based Architecture Deployment

Service Based Architecture offers the flexibility to meet your deployment needs. There is a simple single machine configuration for demo, development and smaller production deployments. Or you can choose a scale out deployment across multiple servers, using a single tenant or multitenant configuration.

The installation of the Service Based Architecture server components is included in the same installation as the web client so you can deploy both at the same time.

Service Based Architecture .NET Interop

This feature enables Microsoft Dynamics GP and ISV products to expose and consume services. Services are the backbone of the cloud and this feature supports new scenarios around cloud based interaction.

Developers can now directly reference .NET assemblies and their objects in sanScript in order to leverage capability offered in the .NET Framework. This includes the ability to call out to service or use objects as a means of data handling and processing.

Invoicing in the Web Client

Customers who use the Invoicing Module now can use Invoicing in the Web Client.

Payment Terms-Transaction Calculation

A new selection was added to calculate the transaction due date from the transaction date or the discount date. Additional calculation options like annual or month/date and being able to add days or months to the calculation gives you greater flexibility when setting up payment terms.

Additionally, the ability to calculate an example when you are creating the payment term allows you to verify the option you are creating.

Payment Terms – Discount Date Calculation

Now you have the same calculation options for discount date that you do for transaction due date. You choose among calculation options like annual, next month or month/date and being able to add days, months, or years to the calculation gives greater flexibility when setting up your payment discount terms.

Additionally, the ability to calculate an example when you are creating the payment term allows you to verify the option you are creating.

Workflow – Vendor Approval

Allows users to control the setup and editing of vendors.

Vendor Approval allows users to create workflow processes which need to be completed before defined document processes.

Actions can be taken directly from the windows, from an email, or from a Navigation list.

Workflow – Payables Batch Approval

Added functionality of Payables Batch Approval allows users to control the processing of Payables batches in a more streamlined fashion.

User can create a workflow process which needs to be completed before defined document processes.

The workflow status appears on the window and actions can be taken directly from those windows, from an email or from a Navigation List.

Workflow – Receivables Batch Approval

Added functionality of Receivables Batch Approval allows users to control the processing of Receivables batches in a more streamlined fashion.

User can create a workflow process which needs to be completed before defined document processes.

The workflow status appears on the window and actions can be taken directly from those windows, from an email or from a Navigation List.

Fixed Assets Year End Report

A new option that will allow you in a single step to close your year and print a status report of all the assets that are being affected by the close.

On the report you will see the year to date depreciation, cost basis, accumulated depreciation, net book and more.

Employee Paystubs

Employees can now view or print their own paystubs.

With Employee Self Service Paystubs, the user can see their pay stubs and then can view the detail or print them to a printer.

The employee can select one or more paystubs and print them all at the same time.

Employee Direct Deposit and Workflow

Another option for Employee Self Service in Microsoft Dynamics GP2015 is Employee Direct Deposit.

The Employee Direct Deposit window allows an employee to view and edit their direct deposit information.  They can start or stop direct deposit, add or remove accounts and edit the direct deposit distribution.

With workflow for Employee Direct Deposit, the direct deposit changes can be routed to the appropriate people for verification before updating the employee’s data.

Employee Benefits

Employee Self Service functionality has been added. The new Benefits View window allows employees to view their benefits.

Benefits View shows employee contributions and employer contributions.

An option to choose (All or Active) allows employees to view what they are assigned as well as all benefits available.

Project Employee Expense Report Entry

Project Accounting employees can create expense reports for any projects to which they are assigned. Employees can also be set up to allow delegates to enter expense reports on their behalf.

Workflow approvals and task assignments are defined for expense reports; workflow actions are executed on the documents from the Expense Entry window or from the Navigation lists.

Employee Profile and Employee Skills and Training

This feature allows employees to view and/or update their personal information including Address/Phone Numbers, Emergency Contacts, Dependents, and Position History. This is an extension of the Employee Self Service functionality.

Employees maintain their Education and Tests in the Employee Skills and Training window and view their Skills and Training History.

Workflow functionality is integrated so employees can submit changes and managers can approve changes from a Navigation List or from an email notification.

Employee W4 and Workflow

Employee Self Service has a new feature that lets a user view and update their own W4 information.

With Employee W4, the user can see their current W4 settings, view historical W4’s, make changes, and submit the changes to a workflow.

In the Employee Withholding Certificate window the employee can manage their information and once submitted to workflow, the change will be routed automatically prior to updating the employee’s record.

HRP Workflow Pending Approval Navigation List

Approvers now have one place to view and approve employee self-service changes. This is a one-stop-shop for managers to see all their assigned tasks including Payroll Timecards, Employee Profile, Employee Skills, Payroll W4 and Payroll Direct Deposit.

The HRP Workflow Pending Approval Navigation List allows you to approve/complete multiple tasks by checking the box and selecting the action to complete. The preview pane displays task details and there is a Go To option to view the assigned task.

Team Manager – Employee Profile, Skills and Training

As part of the Employee Self Service functionality managers can see and/or edit their team member’s data including Address/Phone Number, Dependents, Emergency Contacts and Position History in the new Employee Profile window.

The Employee Skills & Training window allows managers to view and edit the Education and Tests for their team members. Managers can also view the Skills and Training for each employee.

Manager submitted tasks will still flow through workflow for approval or notification.
