The Client:  CRS Reprocessing Services

CRS Reprocessing Services provides fluid reprocessing services to industry world-wide.  CRS’ US headquarters is in Louisville, KY and offers their services across the globe through its offices on three continents.

The Challenge:  Standard GP Project Reports Were Insufficient

CRS uses Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to keep the company’s books.  Dynamics has the necessary power and flexibility to accommodate CRS’ operations which span across 6 different countries.  However, the out-of-the-box reporting for projects didn’t provide enough insight, and it was difficult to judge project success according to cost, revenue, and profit.  This presented an obstacle to effective management of global operations.

To solve this problem, CRS sought the expertise of a technically savvy GP consultant in the Louisville region.  The search lead them to iSolutions.  Although iSolutions is based in Indianapolis, the firm provides Dynamics GP consulting services to many clients in and around Louisville.

The Fix Starts With a Free Assessment

iSolutions started the engagement with a free assessment of CRS’ Great Plains implementation.  This is part of iSolutions’ standard methodology.  The assessment took place in Louisville, on- site at CRS, over the course of a full day.  This on- site visit provided the necessary direct access to the folks at CRS who worked with Dynamics GP every day.  iSolutions was able to gain an understanding of how CRS conducted business and how the current configuration of GP either helped or hindered those business processes.

Better Dynamics GP Reporting, Right Away

With regard to the GP project reporting, iSolutions listened to CRS to understand the type of insights that CRS hoped to get from better GP project reporting.  Once they understood the business goals, the iSolutions team was able to quickly implement a custom reporting solution leveraging a proprietary “toolset” that had been amassed through years of experience working with Dynamics GP.  The custom GP project reports were ready just a few days after the on site visit:  problem solved.

Impact – Reports That Provide Insight and Answers

The custom Dynamics GP project reporting that iSolutions implemented for CRS provided the projects insights that were hoped for.  “iSolutions was the only Dynamics GP consultant in the Louisville area that had the business savvy and technical wherewithal to grasp our needs and provide a  GP project reporting solution that actually works for our business,” says Bryan Flanders, Global Procurement Manager at CRS.

A Reliable Dynamics GP Partner for Louisville

iSolutions continues to act as a trusted advisor to CRS, providing suggestions and implementing enhancements that improve the usefulness of Dynamics GP.  Together, iSolutions and CRS are currently working on the implementation of a requisitions system that manages the purchasing process for buyers all over the world.  The new system, which is built on top of GP, will allow for the creation of purchasing rules that can be applied by office, by project, or even by the individual purchasing agent.
